Are You Eligible?

  • Own your single detached, semi-detached, row house, townhome, or mobile home (on a permanent foundation, not a new build‡).
  • You're an Enbridge Gas customer heating with natural gas, OR heat your home primarily with electricity connected to the Ontario grid‡.
  • The home must have been occupied for at least six months. New build homes do not qualify until this occupancy threshold is met.
  • You must own the home where the heat pump will be installed.
  • You must be the person responsible for paying for the purchase and installation.
  • If the property is rented out, the owner must be the applicant.
  • This must be the first-time installation of a heat pump system in the home. Homes with existing heat pump systems are not eligible.
  • The installed heat pump must be on the Natural Resources Canada qualified products list for either Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pumps or Ground Source Heat Pumps.
  • The heat pump can operate standalone or alongside a backup heating system (like a natural gas furnace or electric resistance).
  • The rebate only applies to the heat pump system itself, not the backup system.
  • For gas-heated homes: If installing the heat pump alongside a new furnace, the system must be an eligible combination unit. An existing furnace can be used without this requirement.
  • For electrically heated homes: Existing electrical backup systems can be kept.
  • For mini- or multi-split units: Both the indoor and outdoor units must be installed. Replacing only one component or adding just an indoor unit does not qualify for the rebate.
