How Does a Snow Melting System Work?

A snow melting system uses a sensor to detect when there is snow or ice on the driveway, walkway, and pathways. When the Tekmar control/sensor detects snow or moisture on the surface slabs, it will trigger the boiler and mixing valve. The hydronic system moves controlled amounts of hot water and propylene glycol through the closed-loop tubing system.

Christmas Eve and our furnace decided to take a holiday. Phoned Green Heating and Air and the technician was here in 20 mins. He completed a repair but warned that we may need a new circuit board. Sure enough the furnace shut down again and when we called back they confirmed they had a board and could install it after midnight.
